"The royal we" at EIGEN + ART Lab and "As if Royal" in Circle1 gallery made last week sound and look extraordinary. Outside of the royal circle, it was techno as usual - this time in intriguing paintings made by a DJ, and exhibitied for the first time in the gallery L'Atelier-ksr.

Last week Autocenter sent us on a virtual trip to a Hong Kong nightclub, and Axel Obiger made us feel like we are in a twisted highschool gym. Galerie Zink surprised us with some delicious prosciutto, and we surprised ourselves with getting out of the bed on a Sunday for the opening at Galerie Neu.

Things we did not miss to see last week: Bigrit Brenner's guilt-trip installations at Galerie EIGEN + ART, Marianne Thörmer's shiny metal pieces at Das Gift, Gerhard Winkler's soup ingredients at Kuckei + Kuckei, and Falk Haberkorn's hastily rendered men at KLEMM'S.

Women's Day, old and new friends, spotting a few celebrities, and meeting our new favourite artists - in short, that is what our week was about. Catch up with what you might have missed at EIGEN + ART Lab, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Nolan Judin Berlin, alexander levy, and Carlier Gebauer.

A lot of things had to be missed last week due to the quantity of events. It is even possible that  there were more openings than techno parties during the weekend (?!). Plus points to the galleries getting real busy lately; we were happy to see the art scene dominating.

A girl-powered week is behind us: we visited the retrospective of the "art's original bad girl" Dorothy Iannone, solo shows by Kristina Schuldt and Anna Talens, and a group show with video works by 13 artists, including Loretta Fahrenholz whose name we will remember longer than the others.

The legendary fair ARCO opened yesterday in the Spanish capital for its 33th edition and Bpigs didn't miss out.

Last week the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, people were showing love to their significant other - at least for a day, and the city was loved by the artists and tourists from all over the world who came for the Berlinale festival. The varienty of happenings last week was as exciting as Berlin gets. ...

Last week we attended Berlinale and did some celebrity hunting on the side; the latter expectedly unsuccessful. Besides joining the festival hype, we were happy to do our usual job and attend some friendly and interesting exhibition openings.

Although the big performances at transmediale and CTM festival were all that everybody was talking about last week, we mostly stayed faithful to the smaller events in the shadow and encountered many like-minded visitors equally enjoying art without paid entrances and queueing in vain, but with free drinks and gourmet...

Winter took its toll last week and locked many of us in several layers of blankets and various forms of pajamas. What we simply could not miss was the opening of the CTM Festival, for we felt adventurous and adventures in music and art were promised to be seen and heard. Other than that, we casually dropped by (not...

Last week art intertwined with fashion and made the city twice as vibrant and nice. Going to openings is almost as going to fashion events anyway, so we skipped all the trendy fuss and went to see what is on in some of our favorite art spaces in Berlin. No disappointment, pluses were everywhere.

Artwise and socially, last week did not disappoint. Encouraged by post-holiday boredom, new years resolutions, lack of money and/or friendly outdoor temperatures, a lot of people used the benefits of the sudden boom of art events. Let us hope that this common January spark of energy and will lives throughout the whole...

WEDNESDAY 11.12 Tomasz Kobialka @ The Gym For it’s second workout, The Gym hosted an exhibition of new work by Berlin based painter Tomasz Kobialka. The atmosphere in this living room-turned-gallery space keeps getting better every time I visit it. The Gym had installed a ‘pool’ covering the...

You might as well skip the Christmas Markets and have your Glühwein fix at openings, and we might as well focus on reviewing this omnipresent winter drink. See where we had a glass or two last week to keep up with the trend.
  • by Adela Lovric, 2 Dec 2013
Last week in a nutshell: sugar, spice and everything nice. The smell of Glühwein is taking over the city and openings are no exception. Take your hot cup of favorite winter drink to recreate the atmosphere and take a virtual stroll through the last week's events.    THURSDAY 28.11 Lomography...

Last week we went to see some interesting art and we saw much more than that. Everything blended well - people complemented artworks in the way they dressed, posed or or moved around. Rocker to rocker, raver to raver, hipster to Peres Projects, _____ (continue the sequence).   THURSDAY 21.11 Berlin under 30 @...
