When you live in Berlin, you cannot even recover from an amazing weekend before the next one arrives. This weekend, Fête de la Musique will treat us with free concerts, while the galleries will be awesome as ever and host free events from Wednesday till Sunday. Ennoble your week with discussions, tours, openings, concerts, parties, screenings & Banana cakes.

WEDNESDAY 18.06

18.30 Discussion / "The Ukrainians" @ daadgalerie

WHY: "The Ukrainians" aims to add the perspectives of visual artists and writers directly affected by the current events in Ukraine. Those are the voices than need to be heard for a better understanding of the crisis. This Wednesday, together with the artists, Juri Andruchowytsch and Yuri Leiderman will discuss artistic interventions during the Maidan protests and in Eastern Ukraine.

daadgalerie / Zimmerstraße 90, 10117 Berlin, U6 Kochstr. / free entry / more info

19.00 Unclean Conversations: Pedro Bustamante and Mischa Tangian @ SomoS

WHY: As a part of the exhibition "Unclean", which we remembered as one of the most interesting shows this month, two great minds respond to the theme of "uncleanliness". A musically guided tour by the composer and violinist Mischa Tangian will introduce the audience to previously unseen and unheard aspects of the exhibition. This will be followed by a presentation by Pedro Bustamante, an academic that straddles the boundaries between art, activism, and academia.

SomoS / Kottbusser Damm 95, 10976 Berlin, U Schönleinstr. / more info

THURSDAY 19.06

19.00 It's About Time + Radio Picnic opening and Salon Bruit @ Alte Kindl Brauerei

WHY: An event that brings together visual and sound art in an unusual venue a stone's throw from Tempelhof. Need we say more? "It's About Time" is an experimental exhibition based on the idea of the many possibilities facing established certitudes. The visitor will experience ten artistic perspectives questioning the notions of temporality. Radio Picnic, the sonic part of the event, will become a quest for the perfect noise, with radio receivers and FM transmitters as the main protagonists.

Alte Kindl Brauerei / Am Sudhaus 2, 12054 Berlin, U Boddinstr. / ongoing until 28.06 / free entry / more info

FRIDAY 20.06

18.00 Speisekino Moabit #3 - Foodball – The ball is round / 23.00 Oum Shatt @ ZK/U

WHY: Those who do not feel like watching the games all alone or with way too many people, ZK/U invites to Moabit to a group watching, some delicious foods by Moabitans for Moabitans, and a program of short movies. At 23h when the screening program ends, the party starts with the band Oum Shatt, who will perform a radically pure and minimal form of rock'n'roll with arabic references.

SATURDAY 21.06

16.00 Fête de la Musique - Caribou @ Mauerpark

WHY: Oh la la! Fête de la Musique will rattle'n'roll all over the city this weekend, and the highlight will most certainly be Caribou on Saturday at Mauerpark. All concerts will cost zero €, but before you start converting it into drinking money, think about timing and how much earlier should you be there to save a spot.

Mauerpark / Gleimstraße. 45, 10437 Berlin, U Eberswalder Str. / free entry / more info

19.00 Lilly Lulay - Indistance @ Kuckei + Kuckei

WHY:  Photography lovers, this way! The charming Mitte gallery Kuckei + Kuckei shows works by Lilly Lulay, who uses found photographic material, often from a private sphere, that are synonymous with the stereotypes and peculiarities of a past photographic epoch. In her works, the artist explores the question of what is being reproduced, and also frequently enquires into the mechanisms of the resulting camera shots. Armour yourself with discerning questions; seems like there is a lot to discuss with the young artist.

Kuckei + Kuckei / Linienstraße 158, 10115 Berlin, U Rosenthaler Platz / ongoing until 02.08 / free entry / more info

SUNDAY 22.06

14.00 Simon Faithfull - Reenactments of Future Scenarios @ Sonntag

WHY: Sonntag is a social sculpture, started by April Gertler and Adrian Schiesser, that takes place the third Sunday afternoon of every month in Berlin. For each Sonntag an artist is invited to show their work in Adrian's apartment. The artist's favorite cake is made by April and Adrian and is served with coffee and tea. This Sunday you get to enjoy this unique concept with Simon Faithfull's art and his favorite cake Banana bread.
