Tips 28.06 - 11.07

Fashion killaz are taking the city by storm this week, and adding a fun after-hour bonus to the early-closing art events.
Whatever side you normally go for, our tip is to combine the two worlds to make the best of the week.

WEDNESDAY 29.06

19.00 Performing Encounters #2 @ Haus am Lützowplatz

WHY: This salon by the Berlin-based artist Birte Bosse installs an experimental supper club at Haus am Lützowplatz. The evening addresses the various aspects of the diverse relationship between two workspaces: kitchens and artists' studios. Both are scenes of mysterious activity, workrooms of inspiration and alchemical formulations, places of creative chaos and classificatory thought. If you like to join, RSVP to:  hello(at)performingencounters.de.

Haus am Lützowplatz / Lützowplatz 9, 10785 Berlin, U Nollendorfplatz / more info

19.00 Monthly Wrap Up: June + Microcosm Series "Wall-scape" Collage Arrival @ Aether

WHY: Using what is exterior to allegorically mirror the interior, the works in Lisa Stewart's „Microcosm Series“ take fragments from the macrocosm of the Universe to magnify the microcosm of the self. The second piece is now arriving to Aether, and will be celebrated accordingly in combination with the Monthly Wrap Up event. This summer series at Aether Bar includes drinks and music on the terrace, with a special offer to bring along records and have a spin - the invitation is open to everyone!

FRIDAY 01.07

19.00 Aline Alagem - "Director's Cut“ // Dana Yoeli - "Fichte / Ashuchit“ @ Circle1

WHY: Aline Alagem's works in „Director's Cut“ continue her main preoccupation in recent years with the body, gender, and eroticism, and with the gaze that constitutes them in the current age of a mad torrent of processed images. Dana Yoeli chooses memory as her subject and transforms it into substance. In her artist book, „Fichte / Ashuchit“, Yoeli weaves a personal story using a nearly forensic photographic technique devoid of sentiment.

Circle 1 – Platform for Art and Culture / Mittenwalder Str. 47, 10961 Berlin, U Gneisenaustr. / open through 30.07 / free entry / more info

SATURDAY 02.07

11.00 Capital: Debt – Territory – Utopia @ Hamburger Bahnhof

WHY: The exhibition revolves around Joseph Beuys' pioneering work, „The Capital Space 1970–1977“, made for the Venice Biennale in 1980. This monumental work is exhibited in Berlin for the first time. As the symbol of his constant search for liveable alternatives, it sums up his artistic work of the 1970s, when he developed a new definition of capital: released from its relation to money, his new conception put the creative potential of human beings at the centre of economic thought: „Art = Capital“.

Hamburger Bahnhof / Invalidenstrasse 50-51, 10557 Berlin, S Hauptbahnhof / open through 06.11 / more info

MONDAY 04.07

19.00 All Dreams Continue in the Beyond @ Cell63 Artplatform

WHY: 15 artists coming from various disciplines, such as video, photography, painting, installation, and music, were invited to present artworks strictly related to their dreams. The aim is to explore the various images and emotions that a dream presents and evokes, while not attempting to come up with a single unique dream view: each person has his or her own dream language. A voyeuristic journey in somebody else's imaginative subconscious.

Cell63 Artplatform / Allerstr. 38, 12049 Berlin, U Leinestr. / open through 31.07 / free entry / more info

THURSDAY 07.07

17.00 Bosco Sodi - "Cubes" @ Galerie EIGEN + ART

WHY: Bosco Sodi is known for his richly textured, vividly coloured large-scale paintings. Focusing on material exploration, the creative gesture, and the spiritual connection between the artist and his work, Sodi seeks to transcend conceptual barriers. The work itself becomes a memory and a relic symbolic of the artist’s conversation with the raw material that brought the painting into creation.
