18.00 Froon Timmer – „Ab und zu durch Tauben“ @ Display

 

WHY: The collective Froon Timmer deals with recurrent human activities and how they concretise in space. There are rhythms, drawing lines, and viewpoints that are daily investigated. While the last exhibition of the collective was concerned with working days, „Ab und zu durch Tauben“ is dedicated to the state of rest and the night. Artists of the Froon Timmer collective featured in the exhibition are Alison Darby, Marta Djourina, Karin Salathé, and Sidsel Ladegaard.

19.00 3hd Festival: Whatever You Thought, Think Again @ HAU Hebbel am Ufer / OHM Berlin

WHY: 3hd Festival is back this year at HAU, OHM & online. With its theme – „Whatever You Thought, Think Again“ – the program explores the viability of acting outside of the status quo. Performances, panels and workshops will tackle themes of visibility, feminism, empowerment, and community. Artists will take part in the four-day event series of installations, concerts, performances, panels, workshops, and online commissions, as well as a survey examining music, art and society where it intersects with science.

19.00 Concert and Reading: Antoine Beuger, Ed Atkins, Jörg Frey @ daadgalerie

WHY: As part of Ed Atkins’ exhibition „Old Food“ at Martin-Gropius-Bau, the daadgalerie invites to a concert featuring the composers and sound artists Jürg Frey and Antoine Beuger, and a reading by Ed Atkins. Jürg Frey composed the piano piece featured in the exhibition as a looping track in Ed Atkins’ films, which appears in highly varied atmospheric settings. For this event he will peform „Instruments, Field Recordings, Counterpoints” (2013), and Antoine Beuger his piece „we are voices“ (2013).

19.00 Andrade & Odinzow – „Global Express Wedding“ @ Meinblau Projektraum

WHY: The Cold Case project by the artist couple Andrade & Odinzow is an experimental archive research based on an autoethnographic approach. The artists lead through their personal archives, inviting one to think about new forms of life and experiences. The installation „Global Express Wedding“ is a prologue to the project, which will also become an extensive book. The exhibition will be accompanied with an acoustic soundscape by Nadia D´Alo and Benedikt Frey, who will perform at the opening.

19.00 Memed Erdener – „Beauty of Bigotry“ @ Zilberman Gallery

WHY: Influenced by myths, history of nation states and religions, Memed Erdener incorporates multiple genres of imagemaking in order to reveal corruption and contamination of regimes by also rethinking historical figures. Consisted of paintings – oil pastel and acrylic on paper and canvas – and objects with found materials such as iron, brass, prescription lens, plastic fork, „Beauty of Bigotry“ engages discourse around the constructive and destructive aspects of the world as well as power dynamics with various references from Eros to Ottoman Divan poetry to contemporary leader figures.

19.00 Malwina Niespodziewana – „Comic Gold Haribo“ @ Maniere Noire

WHY: Malwina Niespodziewana is interested in storytelling in its broadest sense. Her drawings often take their starting points from a text based piece, be it a poem, a fairy tale, an opera libretto, or a biography. „Comic Gold Haribo” is her latest series of 30 drawings on paper, created in 2017, and the last part of a tripartite project started in 2011.Each individual scene is a record of a real situation that may be interpreted by the viewer literally or figuratively. The main character stays for the artist, even though she could represent an entire generation.

WHY: For the first time, BERLIN BLUE art presents an exhibition that unites all of the artists represented by the gallery, and includes a wide variety of artistic media, such as painting, drawing, screen printing, photography, sculpture, installation, and video. WHY: Rockelmann& presents a group show, „My tether is clipped“, which dwells on the questions of mortality and memory. „My tether is clipped“ seeks to understand contemporary rituals of remembrance and how they are represented through the works of three international artists – Yasmin Alt, Zachary Fabri, and Ben Harle – working within the confines of video and sculpture.

19.00 TC McCormack – „The Immense Ventriloquism“ @ nationalmuseum

WHY: In his upcoming exhibition, TC McCormack considers how our man-made structures exist in and out of time, how the course of history continually reappraises objects, resources, and even nature. „The Immense Ventriloquism“ has a particular rhythmic structure, achieved through the cadence of the visual phrasing in the films, and in the recalcitrant curation of a series of pattern motifs that act upon the work and space. Accompanying the films is a large suspended print and an arrangement of objects and sculpture illuminated by animated light projection.

21.00 Grand Opening feat. Croatian Amor, Helm, PYUR & Thomas Ankersmit @ MONOM

WHY: Attention all audiophiles! A new venue is in town – the MONOM concert space is a unique immersive sound environment, housing a permanent installation of the 4DSOUND system which encloses up to 350 people inside 48 state of the art omnidirectional speakers suspended throughout the venue. To celebrate the grand opening, Berlin’s new centre for spatial sound will begin with 4 world premiere performances on two nights (December 1 & 2), showcasing the diversity of the artists Croatian Amor, Helm, PYUR & Thomas Ankersmit.
