Another super cool workshop as part of Under the Viral Shadow at Art Laboratory Berlin. Register now for this weekend!  @sarahgrant @danyavasiliev. In this 3-day version of the popular NETworkshop intensive, participants learn low-level networking using only command-line tools and network hardware. In doing so they not only grasp how to create and manipulate computer networks, but how they can be used to manipulate us. By learning about routing, addressing, core protocols, network topologies, packet capture, and dissection, students become dexterous and empowered users of computer networks. Complete documentation and software are provided. No prior experience is necessary.

From popular culture’s appropriation of and obsession with spirituality, to the rediscovery of ancient practices outside doctrinal order, spirituality has many faces in the modern world. Practices like yoga, meditation and witchcraft, once the domain of traditional cultures and searching hippies, have become mainstream. The trend towards ‘spiritual but not religious’ speaks to a growing number of people alienated by religion, who still harbour an interest in the sacred dimension of experience.

I loved this show. Go see it. “Balancing the contrasts of Horror vacui and Minimalism, the exhibition at Gr_und explores the process of collaborative art through painting, sculpture and installation.”

my name is Klaus

Look. I met Biesenbach in Los Angeles and he was genuinely excited about every single aspect of art making, off and on scene. He followed every tip and visited every single off space and pop up show he could get his hands on. I don't know how much of the MOCA fiasco was his fault, the board of trustees there seems to be a mess, but none of this will be any easier in his new post. He goes from splitting a museum because he couldn't handle logistics to being in charge of two museums? One of which is not even built yet?! When are we going to stop rewarding white men for failing? I find his coming back to Berlin bitter sweet (and, if we are taking bets, bound to fail). I wanted to see what he will accomplish in the Wild West. And more importantly I want to see new, diverse talent emerge in Berlin. This is a Klausruck.
