FOMO IS BACK

FOMO IS BACK

Never gonna let you down Berliners!

Wait, wait what- Terrestrisch, Fantastisch und NASS?! What is happening to us- there is a show, conceived as a sensory installation on (between other things) the sexual facets of worms, opening in Berlin this weekend. And do not begin pretending this title doesn't turn you even a little bit on. How many events are too many? It took me two more days than usual writing this list, I got so distracted with all the new (old) spaces and ideas. Speaking of new ideas: Humboldt Forum finally opens on July 20th ( hey, took almost longer than the airport!) and is being cheekily marketed as Berlin's newest landmark. Bold! It is lake weather again ( see below for a little treat!!) - Berghain reopened, for dancing (outside) not only Boros art -do not sweat the creeping feeling of FOMO with all these events you will be inevitably missing. Bpigs Never Gonna Let You Down! Terrestrisch, Fantastisch und Nass - let's go!

Silk as a Currency” a talk by Mi You, Thursday 15 July 6pm combines hearsays, histories and speculations on silk both as an artefact and as cultural metaphor. Desired by the Romans, silk in the antiquity was surrounded by trickery, theft and outlandish cultural imaginations, so popular that it was preferred as a medium of exchange in Central Asia than gold coins issued by the Kushan empire. In China, silk was variously used in lieu of tax, wage and tributary payments. This then opens up a reflection on silk as a currency today, both in the cryptoworld for cross-border transactions and as a cultural currency, seen, for example, in ‘silkpunk’. It’s the second chapter of @slavsandtatars Knot Know summer program exploring crafts as potential for solidarity and queering beliefs in Central Asia and China. Capacity inside the space is limited.
