Handsiebdruckerei Editionen
Our passion is printmaking. We love pigments, papers, and materials; we share a vision of artistic prints as a special, intimate and accessible medium. And we enjoy the materiality of good printmaking — at a time when many experiences are moving into the digital space, a genuine work of art is a haptic object of artistic creation.
From this follows that we produce all prints ourselves, hosting artists' sessions in our studio in Berlin. We are constantly expanding the boundaries of technique and exploring the possibilities of artistic expression in graphic art.
We are brought together by our shared love of art and vision for artistic printmaking. None of us has ever regretted having to free up wall space for another framed work, every new work of art is a small (or sometimes very large) love story.
When we started Handsiebdruckerei Editionen in early 2020, we did so because we wanted to see works by our favourite artists that didn’t exist in this form yet — and the only obvious solution was to provide the opportunity and the space for these artists to create the works. So, our initial goal is simply to give the artists a platform and of course the best possible personal and technical conditions from which to work. The heart of Handsiebdruckerei Editionen is the Berlin printing workshop. Prints, which are always created here, are the result of the collaboration between the artists and our master printers.
The artists we work with are invited to create prints here that will exist as independent works of art within their oeuvre. Some of our artists are experienced printmakers, others have had little or no experience with this technique. We are looking for collaborations over long periods to enable the artists to build up a comprehensive body of graphic art. To achieve this, we create silkscreen editions that explore the versatile possibilities of this medium. We are incredibly proud to show how many approaches — from classic visual art to conceptual art — can be accommodated within this technique, thanks to the collaborative and experimental approach of our studio sessions.
We regularly hold Open Weekends where you can view the prints in real life (and take them home with you). We are just as happy to answer any questions you might have remotely and will always find a way to bring you together with the art!
We are also happy to advise you on framing, hanging, and the correct storage of prints.
