DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM is pleased to present our first solo show of MARTA DYACHENKO (born 1990, Kyiv; works and lives in Berlin). Dyachenko’s works continue to revolve around the question of the life cycles of architecture, from conception and realization to their utilization and sometimes careless disposal by humans to their revitalization and transformation.
:re examines the relationship between inside and outside, between exhibition space and urban space, between fragment, model and scale in a site-specific installation whose initial point is the Volksbühne (“People’s Theatre“) opposite the gallery. The Volksbühne, which was build in 1913, is one of the most iconic theatre buildings in Berlin.

Marta Dyachenko designs an experimental arrangement that probes the liminality of the present: between monument and fresh start, demolition and recollection, war and healing, she presents miniatures of new worlds, emblems of a next class of productive forces of the Anthropocene, and lets them collide with lost visions of past futures to spark a new present. On the occasion of the exhibition, the gallery will publish a catalog of the works with an essay in both German and English by Ludwig Engel, available this March 2023.

MARTA DYACHENKO (b. Kyiv, Ukraine, 1990) lives and works in Berlin (Germany).
