Deponie, opening Thu, 15 Dec 18h at thx again

An exhibition and book presentation by Tobias Kruse

For his project Deponie, Tobias Kruse sought out the traces and scars of a time that still casts a lingering shadow on the present: the years subsequent to the reunification of East Germany. A wild and paradoxical time, rich in opportunities, but one which also brought disappointment, anger and bitterness. Thirty years on from the fall of the Wall, the photographer and native of Mecklenburg, drove 8,000 kilometers through Eastern Germany, capturing what is left in the wake of this monumental juncture in history. A psycho-geographic exploration, Kruse documented everything from desolate countryside and rural villages to packed football stadiums and nighttime demonstrations – phenomena that are as much historical as they are contemporary in their integral space in Germany’s collective memory.

Last Party for Diversity - book launch Fri, 16 Dec 16h-18h at Dittrich & Schlechtriem

Last Party for Diversity is published by Museum Bensheim on the occasion of Andrej Dúbravský's recent solo exhibition. The catalog is designed by Mario Dzurilla and includes texts from Dr. Gabriele Mackert, Dr. Nadim Samman, and Dr. Jan Christoph Breitwieser. The edition of 350 catalogs now available at the gallery and on our webshop includes a unique watercolor insert signed by the artist.

At his most painterly, his outlines bleed into body and the borders between expression and accident blur. Some of his compositions teeter right on the precipice of falling apart, held together 'just so' by only the most lightly worn technique and an eye that knows an awful lot about the historical canon. The latter has seen enough to know that the nature of the pictorial imaginary is always in flux. In their many-coloured coolness, Dúbravský's figures are contemporary subjects. – excerpt from Andrej Dúbravský, Naturist by Nadim Samman
