THURSDAY 27.10

19.00 Scores @ Hamburger Bahnhof

WHY: „SCORES“, the latest in the series „Works of Music by Visual Artists“, is an exhibition and concert project devoted to the musical score. With projects by Saâdane Afif, Christian Marclay, Ari Benjamin Meyers and Jorinde Voigt, the score becomes the focus of an exhibition accompanied by concerts. The selected artists are interested in the transformation of one medium into another, which accomplished in close collaboration with the participating musicians. The scores are presented as drawings, objects, lyrics, graphic-photographic-film notation, and as concepts that generate musical events and performances.

FRIDAY 28.10

19.00 Oliver Krebs – "Golden Record" @ Loris

WHY: Oliver Krebs developed a photography which deliberately moves between the “classical” photographic angle, and a painterly context. A photography that in its directness leads to abstraction. These are images that struggle to be matter-of-fact and thereby take on something of the stage setting. The spontaneous, fleeting aspect of the photographic image encourages to try to discover the qualities that are innate to this medium, which distinguish photography from other visual media.

Loris / Potsdamer Str. 65, 10785 Berlin, U Kurfürstenstr. / open through 19.11 / more info

TUESDAY 01.11

19.00 Christian Vagt - "Softex" @ Somos

WHY: SomoS presents Berlin-based photographer Christian Vagt’s “Softex” series. The exhibition  consists of 15 large-scale photographs which depict refugees and their guards, beyond the fences of the Softex refugee camp in Greece. The exhibition will be accompanied by an artist talk about the refugees’ situation, and its reflection in photography and other media.

Somos / Kottbusser Damm 95, 10967 Berlin, U Schönleinstr. / open through 12.11 / more info

FRIDAY 04.11

19.00 Never Shown on Purpose @ Circle1 - Platform for Art & Culture

WHY: Within the artistic process works emerge that don't seem to fit into the artist's practice. For this show, artists have been invited to propose a work they have never shown before for various reasons; some were never accepted as finished because they failed, looked overdrawn, or simply appeared not good enough, while others seemed too personal or intimate to show. Take a look behind the curtain into the lesser known facet of the work of 15 artists.

Circle1 - Platform for Art & Culture / Mittenwalder Str. 47, 10961 Berlin, U Gneisenaustr. / open through 14.01 / more info
