The drama portrays the events of 2006, thirteen years after Stephen's death on the evening of April 22, 1993 at the hands of a racially motivated man while he was waiting for the bus on Well Hall Road in Eltham. Despite knowing the identity of their son's murderers, Doreen and Neville Lawrence failed to convict those responsible, and their extraordinary campaign for justice led to a public inquiry that branded the Metropolitan Police as racist and made sweeping changes to law and police practice.
