In difficult times, qualities that we did not know existed within us emerge pushing us to start new paths. After years of work as a film and television director, Tuca Paoli returns to photography and, camera in hand, embarks on exploring her environment and the relationships between the captured images and other media such as painting and collage. And she does it in the midst of the pandemic when she feels the need of finding a forest of her own to just devote herself to the pure and simple pleasure of breathing. There, she establishes a bond with trees and learns to look at them. Cracks, knots, holes and the dramatic shapes of the branches bare by winter appear in her paintings all stained up with brilliant colours that resonate her moods. Presence, stillness, sufficiency. Magic can happen in the forest.
