I AM SILVER
LOTTA ANTONSSON: I AM SILVER Opening Sept 10th 18-21h
The exhibition I am Silver by Lotta Antonsson presents art works from different periods that deal with the search for one’s own or constructed identity. The title of the exhibition is based on the poem The Mirror (1960) by Sylvia Plath, who, like Lotta Antonsson, uses mirror symbolism as a metaphor for a search for identity. While experiencing the conflict between rejection and acceptance of the definition of identity and autonomous perception of the ’self‘ and the ‚other‘, both strive for self-knowledge by refuting the objectified identity imposed on them by society.

Ongoing! Make sure to catch JUNKO MARUYAMA: DIVING IN THROUGH THE WALL AT THE INSTITUTE FOR ENDOTIC RESEARCH (TIER)
Born in Japan, Junko Maruyama currently lives and works in Berlin. Having studied sculpture in the City University of New York, Hunter Collage, the artist works across various medias such as drawing, sculpture, installation, performance and animation. Her works examines the notions of circulation and rebirth, often recycled materials, in particular fluid and variable materials such as ice cream, plastics and soap. By circulating the different states of matters of materials, the artist explores the existence and non-existence of the borders in between.

EGILL SÆBJÖRNSSON FLOWER VASE V Sunday Sept 12th at 17h
Next up in die raum is a new animated piece by Egill Sæbjörnsson made for the 5m2 space: 'Flower Vase V'. The digitally traced flower vase drawing projected onto a three-dimensional object is simply about the joy of drawing, stressing the importance and healing effects of playfulness and creativity, now more than ever. To Sæbjörnsson the flower drawings are what his 'inner child' enjoys to make and as such a reference to art therapy and specifically the Icelandic pioneer Sigríður Björnsdóttir: 'Art has been my guiding light throughout my life and career. I believe that we all have the ability to experience and react by expressing ourselves without thinking. The pictures that emerge spontaneously during the creative process are a reflection of a much bigger process, an individual’s inner journey. This has to do with getting in touch with and harnessing the creative force that lies within us all. This was why I knew that every child could create a picture'. (Quote from 'Art can Heal' by Ágústa Oddsdóttir soon to be published by Walther König)

POSTER CORNER
We host a Poster Action for once in our Poster Corner. The artists Minhee Ahn, Zuzanna Czebatul, Diane Esnault, Anne Hoffmann / Moritz Frei, Kasia Fudakowski, Stefan Marx, Marina Naprushkina, Henrike Naumann, Lilli Messina / Nasan Tur and Raul Walch have designed poster motifs with which they campaign for a right to vote advocate for everyone. The posters will appear in the cityscape of the regional declarations of the MANY. "THE MANY DEMAND THE RIGHT TO VOTE FOR ALL" Berlin, With a nationwide week of action (September 12th - 19th), the DIE VIELEN e.V. association draws attention to how many people in Germany are excluded from the general election. Since 2017, active people from art and culture have been involved in a transnational network for artistic freedom, for more diverse participation and presentation in art and for more accessibility. This is important - at least as necessary, however, is the further development of democracy in an increasingly diverse society, because in Germany almost 10 million people are not allowed to vote because they do not have a German passport. The right to vote, which is solely linked to citizenship, excludes people who have lived in Germany for many years from the formation of political will and from decisions about the formation of a common society. This not only weakens democracy - it also gives more weight to around 4.5 million voters with right-wing extremist worldview, racist and nationalist attitudes. THE MANY therefore demand the right to vote for everyone with symbol choices, surveys, poster campaigns and artistic interventions in public.
