Since 1983, artists from a wide variety of backgrounds have been working in the historical building complex - a former industrial site built in 1912 - between Gerichtstrasse and Wiesenstrasse. With more than 70 studios, the art quarter is one of the largest in Germany today. Since 2004, many of the artists have been organized in the association "Kunst in den Gerichtshöfen e.V.," opening their creative working spaces once a year for Open Studios in autumn and inviting visitors to a small art fair in November.
