FAHRBEREITSCHAFT in berlin-lichtenberg is a well-preserved industrial yard with buildings mostly originating from the 1950s, an authentic gdr bar as well as a historic bowling alley. before the fall of the berlin wall, it was the sed central committee’s hub of the “department of transportation”; high-level passenger transport in and out of the former gdr was coordinated and carried out from here.
today, the site is a vivid arts and industrial yard. among others, a picture frame manufactory, a car paint and repair shop, a boat builder, a sound studio, and a printing plant are located on the premises. on top, about 35 visual artists, dancers, and musicians have found their studios and rehearsal rooms here. in changing exhibition spaces, the haubrok foundation shows works from its own collection and from artists on site – while also inviting external artists to partake in exhibitions. the combination of historic architecture and exciting culture creates an interesting mixture that is rarely found in this form.

visiting the haubrok foundation’s exhibitions at FAHRBEREITSCHAFT is possible during the openings, special events, as well as through guided tours after prior registration. accessing the artist studios and the resident industry is not restricted, of course.
