Van Bo Le Mentzel's WOKLIFE KITCHEN - A Building workshop

WokLife Kitchen was inspired by Le-Mentzel's Vietnamese cousin from Berlin-Wedding, who ran a popular street-food stand with a wok-cooker in the famous "Thai-Park" (Preußenpark) for many years. In many Vietnamese and other non-white households in Germany, families have converted their kitchens to wok stoves with gas cylinders. This is a common cooking practice in many cultures. In Germany, it is prohibited. Street food is also not allowed in Germany. The WokLife Kitchen is a constructive contribution to the questions of the extent to which European cuisine, with its manifestations of shiny ceramic hobs, huge center islands, and preference for high-tech built-in appliances, is subject to an ideology of guiding culture in which status and consumption count more than practicality and do-it-yourself solutions. Similar to Schütte-Lihotzky's "Frankfurt Kitchen," it also addresses the question of the extent to which quality of life at home can be improved through cooking. For a better balance between work and life. Woklife Balance in Vietnamese. Vietnamese immigrant women in particular have always cooked their own soup here with their Phó tradition. Even if cooking with a wok pan on gas is not (yet) allowed, we are convinced: No wok is illegal.
