Álvaro Sendra González (Spain, 1983) presents, on the 2nd of February, at the Studio Bildende Kunst, the last ten years of his graphic production. The artist always presents a mind map of paintings and digital collages within the figuration field. The narrative element plays a crucial role without being intrusive to the viewer. His themes revolve around toxic masculinities, social isolation, and the ultra-new (digital) forms of turbo-capitalism. Diverse influences can be felt in his work: surrealist painting, Byzantine miniature painting, realistic literature, internet memes, Dutch tableaux, underground comics, and films, as well as the painting of the Leipziger Schule and expressionism. This gives his works an equally old-fashioned and very contemporary aspect. Inspired by the idea of change, the artist creates a labyrinth for this exhibition, inviting immersion, similar to the flãneurs who get lost in the metropolis to find themselves again.
