“EXOTICA” circles around the question of the self in our time, using Wunderkammer Olbricht as its point of departure. In examining the individual as a cabinet of curiosities, new definitions of historical categories emerge: artificialia, naturalia, scientifica, mirabilia, and exotica become instinct, simulacra, mind, oddities, and exotica, enabling exciting and surprising relationships between the objects of the cabinet of curiosities and contemporary artworks.
