Jean-Baptiste Monnin and Robert Herrmann are two berlin-based visual artists. Both having an architectural education, they observe, question and interpret the built environment. For the work they show in Das Giftraum, they find themselves exploring urban space all around the world – each of them in his own way.

Photorealistic yet abstract, Jean-Baptiste‘s drawings focus on the details that define urban space, and are the result of a meticulous process involving different media. In contrast, Robert‘s photographs are records of contemporary cityscapes charged with time, exploring what happens in the space between buildings. These two positions inform a creative tension that provides the foundation for their first joint exhibition.
