ANDREW THOMAS PARRY - Let 'em Kuchen essen

Let 'em Kuchen essen is an installation by the Berlin based artist Andrew Thomas Parry with a guest performance by Adam Asnan in his absence and an oratory by Ian Warner from Slab-Mag.

Let 'em Kuchen essen is a social critique on 'die Modernisierung' or the energy efficiency renovations currently happening in Berlin.

Across the city, a cheap and fraudulent material, EIFS polystyrene is being applied like a second skin to the exterior of buildings. It is a renovation measure subsidized by the Federal government and lauded as a an environmental practice. Paradoxically, this styrofoam material is anything but environmental.

The use of this material is short sighted and highly problematic from a social and environmental perspective and a main driver of rent rises and evictions across the city.

Andrew Thomas Parry is a contemporary artist with a background in architecture. He lives and works in Berlin.
