A Sign in the Northwest Passage

Within the framework of "Episode 5: in the beginning" insitu is pleased to invite you to the presentation "A Sign in the Northwest Passage" of Canadian artist Kevin Schmidt. Schmidt will introduce the audience to the journey of a large sign that displays ominous texts from the Book of Revelations, placed by the artist in the ice of Tuktoyaktuk, Canada in 2011. Describing in vivid detail the decimation of the earth and of humankind, the sculpture broadcasts a warning that it seems no one is actually present to receive. When the seasonal ice melted, the sign floated away to parts unknown, bringing its cataclysmic message with it. We invite you to hear about Schmidt's encounters made during the production of this piece and his subsequent search for its remains.

For a good start to the day we´ll have coffee, tea and croissants for our guests.
