The Hole
Driven by their passion for film and art, the Mindpirates run a weekly event programme together with fellow artists and curators in THE HOLE. Film screenings, performances, concerts, art interventions and installations take place at varying intervals, often announced at short notice. Whether screening room or project space, the large display window in the front allows everything that happens inside the institute to become a public event.
Since 2015 the Mindpirates operate their Institut für Sehsüchte – THE HOLE – in a former retail space at Schlesische Straße 37 in Berlin.
Mindpirates is an international artist collective uniting visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers and curators. Our projects and public events explore the role of art, music and film within contemporary culture. We are interested in cultural developments that foster new lines of inquiry, new artistic practices and new ways of interacting with an active public. Following an independent, trans-disciplinary and collaborative approach, we aim to promote the production and understanding of contemporary art practices, expand the reach of cultural agency and experiment with new forms of examination, cooperation and distribution. The collective was founded in Berlin in 2008, and we have since vastly expanded the scope of our activities. Our projects and programs have been reaching a large, diverse audience, locally and worldwide.
