Wake up before dawn Groping lights, ephemeral material, poetic technology and naturalness as a concept - in search of human hubris in times of a wounded world. "Just before the sun rises, the night is darkest," the Swedish Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf once wrote. A sentence that comes to mind when you enter Xuejing Wang and Raphaël Fischer-Dieskau's exhibition Wake up before dawn at SMAC. It is quiet and contemplative here, a mood that sharpens the senses. What does it smell like here? What can we hear? Feel? See? The two young artists, who will complete their studies in fine arts at the Berlin University of the Arts this year, negotiate the big questions of transience and endurance, injury and healing, man and nature and our place in this world with a tentative authorship.
