The Melton Prior Institut focuses on the research of artistic and non-artistic visual reporting on the levels of production, distribution, and reception. The basis for this exhibition at after the butcher, housed in a former butcher shop in what was once East Berlin, is the modern, printed representation of industrial meat production since the nineteenth century. “The New Flesh” is a metaphor that includes a wide variety of contributions, where meat is understood as a modern medium and as a kind of symbolic “currency”.
