An intimate portrait of Zanzibari legend Bi Kidude, one of the oldest singers ever on the world stage. Zanzibar has long been a meeting point for African, Arabic and Indian influences. The island’s music is its most potent expression. Bi Kidude beguiled audiences wherever she travelled but domestically she courted controversy, her behaviour challenged perceptions of the role of women in a Muslim society.
