The re-enactment of everyday aesthetics from the aesthetic threshold: leaflets of all types of supermarkets are the protagonists of the newest photographs of Ingo Mittelstaedt in which the artist continues his Chromas series from 2011. In front of a structured canvas – staged in a radical manner in a classic studio environment – bright advertisements of inexpensive meats and sausages are ruptured by fireworks and washing-machines through subtle gestures and artistic interventions. In front of the obliquely draped sides filigree structures - made mainly of organic material - unbend and, hardly noticeable, mark the room creating a network of formal and contentual correspondence. Thus, the large-sized photographs are characterized by an artistic play of picture-in-picture references, moments of vanitas and linguistic set pieces that, rather than having an anti-consumption attitude, make the transformative potential of photography fruitful for a media-aesthetic contemplation.
