Search Engine is a book project that situates Antonia Hirsch's conceptual practice on par with her production of images and objects as a visual artist. The book's title points to its central feature, a classic index that reveals the full spectrum of Hirsch's practice. Mobilising contemporary tools, narratives, and epistemic systems, she transforms raw information and raw material into investigations of how we situate ourselves socially, politically, and economically.

The discussants will look at the index as a forerunner to its digital heir, the online search engine and discuss such topics as authorship and the establishment of meaning in a world textured by algorithms.
