SCHMIDT SCHMIDT HANSEN
Their artistic practice is occupied with basic questions concerning the construction of work and they approach production systematically and conceptually. In their work Schmidt Schmidt Hansen challenge the limitations of the methods by processing materials and ideas beyond a preconceived system or concept. This way, the works are not just/only a physical result of a controlled work process, but also products of more unpredictable manners like circumstance and chance.
Their collaborations are a kind of self-sustaining studio economy where work-material accumulate through ongoing studio activities, to be transformed and reused again in new work. Schmidt Schmidt Hansen are using or including the studio situation directly in their work, both as a frame to work within and a material to work with.
