Michael Schmidt's photographs are anchored in their time and at the same time full of current references. In dealing with his photographic practice, a project group in the photography department at the Lette Verein Berlin developed its own concepts and photographic series, the visual aesthetics and content of which refer directly to our current political and social situation.
The different answers to Schmidt's work also make it possible to see his photographic work with new eyes, as it were. With the support of the art education of the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin, a newspaper was created to accompany the exhibition “Michael Schmidt - Retrospective. Photographs 1965–2014 ”.
The SOX shows the images of this confrontation as large-format, backlit photographs in a weekly exhibition series. The continuation of the project into and back into public space thus fulfills a task that Michael Schmidt assigned to photography
