RANDOM STRUCTURE
Karin Schroeders´ and Patrick Timms`conceptual work connects through occupation with patterns of action. Also in their 2nd joint exhibition in „Projektraum Scotty Enterprises“ they show each drawing works, whose starting point is located in such an action pattern.
Through consequent execution of these patterns randomness plays a role in both works . By stringing together and repeating actions structures occur. At the same time the action degrade to a drawing of time. Sounds beauuutiful, somehow, but how you mean that? Among others Patrick Timm shows the work „all people of the world drawing“. His goal is to bring together all people in the world with their names in one drawing.
For this purpose you are invited to send your name to nameforart@patteist.in or provide it personally in the exhibition. All names together give a human-world-texture.
Karin Schroeder shows drawings and objects from her work „Würfelzeichen (dice signs)“. Rolling the dice means playing. In this work drawing becomes a playing action. The rules she sets beforehand. The drawings show iterations of simple shapes and symbols. e.g. an X. The characteristics of these elements, such as colour or size, omission or set she assigns to the numbers of a dice.
By drawing she follows these rules. That´s how structures occur through an interaction of concept and coincidence.
