My tether is clipped

ROCKELMANN& is pleased to announce the inception of a new group show with the works of our two of our well established artists Yasmin Alt and Zachary Fabri, alongside exciting newcomer Ben Harle.

The ritual of mourning is an ever-changing, ever-evolving concept in Western society. As we move faster towards an uncertain and hyper-accelerated future, as a collective we're frequently rediscovering and reconfiguring our fascination with mortality and memory. How will we be remembered when we die and is the end truly near? Questions like these are typically met with few answers. The Victorians reveled in the aftercare of death and celebrated it with morbid fanfare, later the post-war mentality saw a collective belief in the West's preconceived notion of monetary immortality but in 2017 a safe and stable future is no longer promised. "My tether is clipped" seeks to understand contemporary mourning rituals and understand how they are represented through the works of three international artists working within the confines of video and sculpture.
