Moor Mother is the holographic reflection of a dazzling Afrotopian dream: a cross between poet and cyborg, musician and mystic, activist and time traveler, who takes memories of injustice and pain and uses them to etch the idea of a different future onto our consciousness – and, on the way, finds sounds that we won’t soon forget. With 'Jazz Codes', Camae Ayewa, better known as Moor Mother, presents the second part of a trilogy that issued an unmistakable call for an awakening in part one, 'Black Encyclopedia of the Air'. A journey through outer space with stardust as fuel and ashes as currency. On the other side: black matter. And the realization that enlightenment can sometimes be extremely dark.
