For the premiere edition of KAUM Indonesian Alternative Performance & Film Festival, “Dare” is chosen as the thematic focus, to highlight the struggles and challenges currently faced by marginalized communities in the country. The festival organized by Indonesian diaspora in Berlin will happen from 7 – 21 August across different venues in Berlin. The line-up at District will include various activities focusing on a range of topics. Please see the following schedule for details.

-Discourse Event: Between joy and survival: Transgender Activism in Indonesia - (Co-organized with Queer Asia in Berlin)
-Film screening: Diary Lempuyangan (Dir. Arie Prabowo, 2018)
followed by a hybrid Q&A with the film protagonist/ Indonesian trans activist Rully Malay.

-Special Screenings by In-Docs: Indonesia Distanced Stories (2020)
-Presenting six Indonesian short documentary films highlighting the ethical processes in filmmaking with and about marginalized communities.

Discourse Event: Feminist Organizing in Indonesia
A hybrid discussion with women artists and activists focusing on the joy and challenges of feminist organizing across the archipelago. 8 – 8.30 pm
Performance: A Self-care Ritual. A performance on body dysmorphia by Asarela Dewi and Andra Stefanowski
KAUM festival is made possible with the supports of Fonds Darstellende Künste, our institutional partners: Queer Asia in Berlin, EU Solidarity Corps, Minikino, Jakarta Feminist, Indocs, and venue partners: Anaconda am Ufer, District and Oyoun.
This festival is organized by soydivision Kollektiv: a performing art collective consisting of Berlin-based Indonesians, positioning itself in the intersection of art and activism. As a registered UG, Soydivision curated performances, organized workshops, culinary art activities, film screening, and discussion sessions. Their diasporic point of views offer an alternative approach to contemporary challenges through art, inviting a new kind of dialogues and engagement. – www.soydivision.berlin
