Immaterial Collections - three observations
The three collections of Berlin-based artists Karina Villavicencio, Mari Poller and Stephanie Hanna document social observations, each in different media. Mari Poller searches for the story behind the unified posing of young women in their bedrooms in images posted on social media. Karina Villavicencio studies corporal gestures of volunteering people of diverse regional, gender and other backgrounds. Stephanie Hanna extracts essential advice for good life from audio recordings of street conversations with strangers. These three collections point to the immaterial, emphasize that which is often overlooked and challenge the viewer and listener to become actively receptive and position themself.
