Data Mining Kiosk - ACT III @ Geschützte Grünanlage

The Geschützte Grünanlage at Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), Berlin, offers a public park environment neighboring the new German emblem of cybersecurity and surveillance. Data Mining Kiosk wishes to test the sensibilities of these surroundings.

The picnic is situated within sight of two palm trees fitted in the BND´s court-yard. These two safely installed post vegetation plants -equipped with the latest surveillance technology- run parallel to our interest into the Exotic. Data Mining Kiosk`s inquiry into this specific atmosphere is calibrated by current conditions of high security environments and the traceable dependencies between humans, nature and technology.

Due to late picnic hours’ participants will face only restricted visibility. In the interest of the participant’s own security when moving in the terrain, it is highly recommended to bring a mobile phone and a bike-light.

Data Mining Kiosk will serve drinks. Rain or shine.

Data Mining Kiosk is a collective work and exchange format on sculptures and concepts of perceptions.

please note: due to the performance nationalmuseum will be closed on 22.09.2016

Exhibition in seven acts
at nationalmuseum, Berlin.

Formed in 2014 by Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez and Kirsten Palz, Data Mining Kiosk is a collective work and exchange format on sculptures and concepts of perceptions.
The collective work has so far led to the exhibition ‘Sculpture in four parts’ at the Grimmuseum, Berlin 2015 and ‘Holes’, a failed attempt to rewrite the history of sculptures at the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds 2015.
The exhibition presented at nationalmuseum opens on September 9th with the first of seven acts, which will continue to evolve until October 9th, 2016.

The exhibition explores various reflective understandings of surveillance principles and practices involving observation as an act.

Data Mining Kiosk places the sculpture in modes of surveillance. The sculpture is the protagonist and point of departure for particular models, matters and processes.

Oriented to the north, a series of installations are assembled. These installations undergo constant change during the 30 days including events outside of nationalmuseum.
