Bookbinding workshop with Julia Fabricius
DAY 1: Sat. 13. Nov, 11 - 15 hr
Different techniques of bookbinding
The aim of the workshop is to try out and explore a variety of techniques of foldings and book binding. We will warm up with a simple zinefold, and then move on to the accordion and different versions of the saddle stitch. At the end of the workshop, we will create a paper case to present and collect our final books.
DAY 2: Sat. 20. Nov, 11- 15hr
French link stitch
The aim of the workshop is to go deeper into one type of binding, the french link stitch. We will carefully go through the steps of preparation and binding, and also create a book cover. At the end of the workshop, we will have created a beautiful notebook with an open spine.
Julia Fabricius (@kraterbooks)
Julia Fabricius (born 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden) works as a book designer, illustrator, and assists in a book bindery. She moved to Berlin from New York more than 7 years ago, where she was studying fine arts and art history at Brooklyn College. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design in 2018, and after that, she studied book history at Lund University, Sweden, and did an internship at Buchbinderei Klünder, Berlin. In 2021 she started to give online classes in bookbinding and drawing for kids through the digital platform The Yellow Elefant.

45 Euro: One day workshop
5 Euro: Material costs
80 Euro: Two days workshop

NOTES
*Basic bookbinding tools will be provided for the workshop as well as high-quality papers and cardstock.
* The workshop will follow 2G rules.
* There will be a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 6 per workshop.
