Borrowing a quote by Thomas More in the satirical work Utopia, the exhibition is on view for four days at SAVVY Contemporary. The show uses the space’s geographical location in Berlin’s Neukölln district to ground its guiding More-inspired idea, “your utopia is my reality and my reality is your utopia.” It is Only Natural, of course uses part of the host institution’s mission – SAVVY Contemporary is dedicated to creating dialogues between western and nonwestern art – as a starting point in questioning notions of identity formation and the relationship between authentic and constructed experiences through actions of revealing and concealing the past and present.
