18.00 Michel Comte - „Personalities“ @ Departmentstore Quartier 206

WHY: Once discovered by Karl Lagerfeld, Michel Comte is one of the most important and influential photographers of our time. He became known primarily for his fashion photographs, which he made for Italian Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ. It is mainly a complex woman portrait, in masterfully staged but also spontaneous moments. It is not the clothes that are in the foreground of his paintings, but the personalities. Comte documented, represented, but also influenced a certain time and generation, and the aspects of the changes remain visible in his work.

18.00 Fusion exhibition @ Kominek Gallery

WHY: Students at Kulturama’s higher photographic education had their energies fused together to create new expressions and images. 19.00 BOUTIQUE - Where Art Meets Fashion @ Nordic Embassies

WHY: Instead of creating a competition between the two art forms, BOUTIQUE reflects upon the similarities between art and fashion. It highlights the appeal of fashion, at the same time engaging in social issues and questions of consumption, mass production and beauty ideals. In pairs of two, sixteen Finnish fashion designers and artists have created unique pieces for the exhibition, which arrives to Berlin after exhibitions in New York, Washington, Tokyo and Helsinki.

10.00 Helmut Newton: "Pages from the Glossies" / Greg Gorman: "Color Works" @ Helmut Newton Foundation

WHY: This exhibition offers a new perspective Helmut Newton’s iconic photographs. Spanning more than four decades, the images are presented as facsimiles of the original magazine pages in which they were published. During this period, Newton was regularly commissioned by publishers and editors from renowned magazines around the world to share his version and vision of contemporary fashion. This exhibition is accompanied by the work of Greg Gorman – 25 color portraits of prominent musicians, visual artists, and actors, such as David Bowie, Grace Jones, Andy Warhol, etc.
