Panel Discussion

"Artists, spaces and careers: Who and what advances art production in Berlin?"

Sites of art creation, presentation, and sales: who supports the careers of artists in Berlin? Does it still make sense to produce art against the backdrop of the many works and projects that are impossible to present to the public? Art funding, strategies and everyday life: there are many arguments for and against Berlin as a place for producing art and the structures involved. To mark the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Awards Programme for Artistic Project Spaces and Initiatives, the organizers – Netzwerk der freien Berliner Projekträume und -initiativen e.V. – focuses on art and artists.

Discussion led by: Christian Kobald (Kurator, Redakteur Spike Art Quarterly)
With: Wibke Behrens (Koalition der Freien Szene, Spokesman of Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft), Heinz Bude (Sociologist) Anne Katrin Stork (Project space super bien!) Lou Favorite (Artist)
