Hal Hofskulptur #3: Riding Giants

Haus am Lützowplatz presents the third edition of "HaL Hofskulptur". The artist duo Janine Eggert and Philipp Ricklefs created a sculpture group for the courtyard of the Kunstverein that reminds, at first sight, strongly of a playground. Indeed, “Riding Giants” are here to be used. But the title doesn’t only refer to the dimension of the three sculptures. Eggert/Ricklefs used three geometric forms that are part of the collective art historical memory: Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic dome, the rhombohedron in Albrecht Dürer’s "Melancholie I" and a fragment of Brâncuși’s "Endless Column”. These "gigantic" art works aim at the physical and intellectual participation of the audience.
