Ezgi Kılınçaslan is focusing in her films on the Armenian genocide that took place during the First World War 1914-1918 in Turkey. „Elizabeth“ is the portrait of an old lady, she met by coincidence in Tripoli.

„I met Elizabeth in summer 2008 in Tripoli. Shortly after midnight on the first day, I went out to take a picture of a poster near a hairdressing Salon. She was right there - a well dressed woman in her nineties, with so many stories to tell. During our conversation, I mentioned that I was Turkish, and she replied to me in Turkish. As it turned out, the woman was Armenian, and her family was originally from Adana. The common culture between the two of us brought us closer while we shared our stories and memories, in the middle of the night...“
