Claire Fontaine is an artist collective founded in 2004 by Fulvia Carnevale and James Thornhill, who mainly work with sculpture, installation, painting and video art, as well as text and neon letterings. In their works, Claire Fontaine pursue a political agenda and generally criticize the hegemonic structures and the language of late capitalism. In the context of Claire Fontaine’s notion of a “ready-made artist”, they also challenge the concept of authorship and question the forms of artistic subjectivization on the art market.
