Louise Mary Thomas will present her new series of paintings and collages ‘Starmaps’. London-born Louise Thomas, currently living and working in Berlin, received her BA in Fine Art from the Falmouth School of Art in Cornwall in 2007, following a Diploma in Art Foundation from Kingston University, London in 2004.

Thomas has recently formed Burnt Sienna Berlin, an artist cooperative providing classes and mentoring material relating to the visual arts. Based in Berlin, Burnt Sienna provides an informed and critical platform for the development of its members. Burnt Sienna aims to stimulate discussion and engagement through group critiques, distribution of written material and off and online tutorials.

As part of the launch weekend, Burnt Sienna Berlin is offering a rare opportunity to paint from a contemporary still life installation.

Burnt sienna Berlin will introduce you to the materials and tools you will need to start oil painting with a particular focus on concepts of painting from perception. Students will be introduced to pigments, colour mixing and tonal value as well as formal aspects such as positive and negative space, composition and pictorial structure. We will be working from an unique still life installation and at the end of class you will have paintings to take home. All drawing materials, brushes, supports and paint will be supplied by Burnt Sienna Berlin. Bring any materials or tools you would like to use.
