Allison Smith - Artist Talk

Allison Smith will deliver a lecture on her work which pursues social engagement, crafts and historical reenactment as modes by which to construct national identity. Smith is an American artist based in Oakland where she is a professor at California College of the Arts. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as MoMA PS1, Palais de Tokyo, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Smith has also had works commissioned for public space by the Public Art Fund, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and FOR-SITE Foundation among others. Currently an artist-in-residence at Iaspis Stockholm, Smith will have a solo exhibition open at the Signal Center for Contemporary Art in Malmö in 2015.
