What Did I Miss/ What Did I Not Miss 18.02 - 22.02

Girls, girls, girls. Kicking, twisting, fighting, in weird shapes and impossible postures. Besides the humor and lively colors, I enjoyed this kind of new take on modernism (mainly Fernand Léger) and the smell of probably freshly painted canvases. Bring us more of that oldschool, bitte.

Kristina Schuldt @ Galerie EIGEN + ART Berlin
Dorothy Iannone, the "original art's bad girl", had her first retrospective at Berlinische Galerie last week, and we were lucky enough to catch her at the opening (see the photo - she is the one wearing a big smile on her face). This eighty-year-old looks at least twenty years younger, probably due to her amazing love for life and... you know... sex.
The name of this show really summed it up - it really was all about beauty and decay. The wonderful but crumbling interior of this old building was additionally beautified by the artist who "cured" the "wounds" of its walls with some golden bling.

Anna Talens - Beauty & Decay @ Espace Surplus
This thematic exhibition explores the question of how films transmit emotions and tries to merge exhibition and screening space, art film and video art. KW does it again - a show definitely worth seeing.
An incredibly interesting video piece by Lorreta Fahrenholz won a lot of attention; it was not easy to get a place in the screening room - some were watching it several times in a row.

Berlin Independents Guide is an artist run communications platform.
