Tips This Week

Be kind to yourself every day and twice in January or is this not the saying?! Would you rather find storage space for your works or would you rather give them off to an oblique art foundation based in the Cayman islands? Hm. For me, it is a toss up. The Artist Pension Trust Fund was based on the idea of unite and conquer. A number of artists sent in their work to be managed, any sales would be spit to cover running costs and offer income to all participants. Union but make it art. Did it end up in tears, legal threats and lawyers offering up their time for ahem free (more artworks)? Yes, it did. Another good piece of journalism by artnet and Catherine Wagley. Opening Friday Jan 21, 18-21h @dorotheenilssongallery LINDA HAVENSTEIN | "IN TONGUES“
For her first solo exhibition “In Tongues” at Dorothée Nilsson Gallery Linda Havenstein created a series of paintings and sculptures which further explore her interest in language, codification, and the post-digital. Her paintings hint at the figurative, the sculptures appear to be an examination of material culture of the 20th century, yet both have a hidden layer that is only revealed with the help of Kassandra. This app gives the viewer a second reading and allows the works to be deciphered from a binary point of view.  Linda Havenstein (*1984, Germany) is currently based in Berlin. She studied Japanology and Journalism at the Universität Leipzig.

READING Sat, 22 Jan, 15.00h – 17h at Prater Galerie ( guest at Acud Galerie): DIE ORTE LEBEN
[Bài tiếng việt ở dưới!]
In a collective gesture, memories of places of gathering in Pankow/Prenzlauer Berg that no longer exist – written down on postcards by a wide variety of people – are read aloud by the audience. A space is created in which personal memories merge into a collective understanding, and the past is connected with the present moment.
Individuals and groups associated with various threatened and disappeared places of gathering in Pankow/Prenzlauer Berg will also be present to share possibilities for action through remembering. The postcards can be taken away by the visitors after the event to send and give away.
In German with whisper translations available upon request.

Limited number of participants. Please register until 17/01/2022 here: anmeldung@pratergalerie.de
For the exhibition the 2G rule (vaccinated, recovered) applies. Please be aware that we are obliged to record your details for contact tracing.
