WHY: FEED is a series of sound art and new media events that regularly serve tastefully curated music and visuals. In this week´s episode FEED brings together musicians Novi_sad, Lumisokea and Thomas Meadowcroft. Architectural, rich, tactile, highly physical, spiritual, trance-like and introspective are just some of the directions you might follow in this listening experience.

20.00 The Berlin World Improvement Machine @ Hamburger Bahnhof

WHY: Architect and Curator Friedrich von Borries has created a curatorial intervention in sixteen Berlin museums where he marks around seventy objects in various permanent collections as components of the machine. A treasure map guides the visitors to places such as the Alte Nationalgalerie and the Museum fur Naturkunde. In addition, the Hamburger Bahnhof presents a ten-meter high model of the World Improvement Machine in its inner courtyard. It aims to encourage a discussion about the role of art and science in relation to the improvement of our present-day world.

19.00 Sabine Fassl @ Scotty Enterprises

WHY: Berlin artist Sabine Fassl studies connection between man and nature in her objects and graphics. Her technoid – biomorphic works combine romantic view of nature with ambivalent fascination of natural scientific view. The exhibition at Scotty Enterprises shows carved objects from a new series and graphics.

19.00 New Atlantis @ Km Temporaer

WHY: New Atlantis focuses on international contemporary artists addressing the idea of progress and its origin in utopias. They constantly investigate new definitions of the materiality of our consumeristic society and its mechanisms of production. Others reveal the importance of new technological additions and how they are used for authoritative purposes. The aesthetics of intelligent machines and expanded systems is hereby used to disclose the possibility for a diametric definition of their capabilities and functions.

20.00 René Luckhardt - Kellerloch Paintings @ Autocenter

WHY: René Luckhardt, a German/Swiss painter and conceptual artist (also an artist who recently exposed himself as a reincarnation of Egon Schiele) mostly deals with the socially and culturally marginalized; the occult, hermetic, outdated or the unconscious. On Friday Autocenter shows his retrospective - a painting exhibition - celebrated with an open-end party.

18.00 Feipeng Jiang - Coser Closer @ Galerie Bergwasser

WHY: To mark its opening, Gallerie Bergwasser is showcasing the first solo exhibition by Chinese fine art photographer Feipeng Jiang with his series of portraits Coser Closer. The photographs show close-ups of Chinese youngsters dressed up to look like their Japanese manga or cartoon film heroes. Although the costumes are their source of identity, the artist does not let us see them and places the focus on the face instead.
