18.00 Amir Fattal – Book launch & music performance @ Kunstquartier Bethanien

WHY: ‘Shadow of Smoke Rings on the Wall’ is a monograph presenting the work of the artist Amir Fattal. The book launch will be accompanied by the premiere of ‘From the End to the Beginning’, his new music performance based on ‘Liebestod’ from Richard Wagner’s opera ‘Tristan und Isolde’. The piece will be performed at 19h and atr 20h by the Zafraan Ensemble with soprano Dénise Beck and conducted by Holly Mathieson.

20.00 Scheitern Magazin release party @ Bar Babette

WHY: The new German Scheitern Magazin is launched with the concept of examining the subject of failure. The monothematic magazine features literal, essayistic and lyrical texts, as well as various artistical approaches. It will be published in a small, limited print, and as a free online edition. The release party with a lecture and a concert will be held at the Bar Babette.

19.00 Openings @ Künstlerhaus Bethanien

WHY: Künstlerhaus Bethanien has a generous pre-Easter offer – an opening with six exhibitions by the residents Soren Thilo Funder, Alona Rodeh, Iza Tarasewicz, as well as the artists Sofie Bird Møller, former KB resident Tibor Horváth, Adam Saks, and Fabrizia Vanetta. Expect painted historical engravings, a video adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's novel, a life-sized replica of Viktor Orbán, a time-based installation, objects, paintings, and drawings.

19.00 Gabi Künne & Sabine Tress - Get It, Got It, Good @ Galerie Axel Obiger

WHY: In this exhibition, the painter Sabine Tress and the sculptor Gabriele Künne put the visual dialogue into play, which allows something new and unexpected to arise. The specific arrangement of the works results in unique ideas; between construction and destruction, order and chaos.

19.00 Henna Rikka Halonen – Fictitious Entry @ uqbar

WHY: At uqbar, Henna-Riikka Halonen will develop a mindset of physical and fictional presence, revolving around the notion of fictitious entry, aiming to find possible entries to approach political or institutional presents. The artist is testing tensions between performers, audience, and the artist, using a wide range of historical and cultural references.

20.00 Natacha Mankowski - Space Oddity @ Das Gift

WHY: Space oddity explores our actuals modes of representations of space. Through a series of sketches and oils paintings, Natacha Mankowski tries to engage in news ways of thinking the built. From her architectural backgroung, she uses modeling, 3D representation or photo-montage to develop the possibilities of the traditional medium of painting. Between fantasies and real world representations, the paintings recall the experience of spaces associated to entertainment.

19.00 Cristopher Kline – O.K. @ Grimmuseum

WHY: O.K. is the first manifestation of Cristopher Kline's ongoing project about the identity and history of a small upstate New York community, his hometown of Kinderhook. The exhibition integrates elements from local history and the visual and performing arts in humorous, tactile and surreal installations. At the opening there will also be a performance activating the settings; starting at 20h.
