THURSDAY 15.08

18.00 Poetry of The Absurd – Odyssey of the Lovers @ Mindpirates

WHY: In August 2012 400 participants came together on an idyllic island outside of Berlin for an ambitious musical jam session, uniting 100 international musicians and running non-stop for 24 hours. Now, a year later, they re-examine the infamous occasion drawing on the filmic and photographic documentation of the event, to present an exhibition, film, and cultural event series exploring the universal themes of utopias, dreams and visions, rituals and gatherings, humans and nature.

FRIDAY 16.08

10.00 Meret Oppenheim @ Martin-Gropius-Bau

WHY: Berlin is dedicating a first major retrospective to Meret Oppenheim to mark the centenary of the famous artist's birth. Starting out from her much appraised early work in the circle of the surrealists and proceeding to her less well-known poetic late work, the exhibition will show not only drawings, paintings, objects and collages, but also her writings and dream notations as well as her humorous and fantastical jewellery, dress and other designs.

Martin-Gropius-Bau /  Niederkirchnerstraße 7, 10963 Berlin, U2 Potsdamer Platz  / €10 / more info

22.00 Dial Allnighter @ HAU2

WHY: Tanz im August festival marks the beginning of its 2 weeks long presence with a free allnighter:  you will get to see live set by Queens, followed by DJs Bianca Heuser, Carsten Jost and Christian Naujoks at the foyer and bar of HAU2.

SATURDAY 17.08

19.00 WYSYHYG - Christel Fetzer @ Vincenz Sala

WHY: The mysterious title "WYSYHYG"  stands for: what you see you hope you get. The new works of Christel Fetzer might give you hope, but what you finally get ... We advise to find out for yourself.

20.00 Wojciech Kosma - "To Celebrate the Hell Out Of Them ..." @ Galerie Kamm

WHY: The press release for this event reveals very little facts and many suggestive hints. A recipe that actually works very well and provokes to find out what those 4 performances with Ligia Manuela Lewis, Timothy Murray, Paulita Pappel, Llewellyn Reichman, Ingrid Sattes and Judith Vrancken are all about.

Galerie Kamm / Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse 45, 10178 Berlin, U2 Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz / free entry / more info
