Tips 07.08 - 10.08 (10.08 @ Chesters)

Art is on vacation and music apparently very busy.  Since the concert offer is doing so well these days we don´t really mind; we are happily sharing the best of both worlds.

18.00 Transartfest – Summer Concert Series @ Supermarkt

WHY: This week Transart Biennial presents evenings of concerts that explore the blurred edges between sound, art, video, performance and improv. There are still two concerts to go; good news is that you will get to enjoy both - Lynn Book  on Wednesday and Ensemble Xenon on Thursday - for free!

Supermarkt /Brunnenstrasse 64, 13355 Berlin, U8 Voltastrasse / free entry / more info

20.00 Uniglory @ REH Kunst

WHY: Uniglory is a performative sculpture and collaborative piece by Caroline Bayer, Janine Eggert and Chryssa Tsampazi. Coincidentally one of the artists has a birthday on the evening of the performance, which is expected to turn into a celebration with drinks and special DJ mixes by Amateurboyz.

REH Kunst / Kopenhagener Strasse 17, 10437 Berlin, U2 Schonhauser Allee / free entry / more info

20.00 Dissident Desire: 4th Archive Activation with artists of ff and SNACK HATOBA @ District

WHY: The 4th activation of dissident desire is an evening of live performance, poetry reading and visual realizations of personal desires. In this show artists´ perspectives on eroticism will meet with a Japanese 60s style Snack Bar where those who feel confessional can gather and talk about their problems, hopes and dreams.

District / Bessemerstrasse 2-14, 12103 Berlin, S Berlin Südkreuz / free entry / more info

FRIDAY 09.08

Performances and DJing at the opening (party not promised but always expected).

19.00 A L´arme Festival @ Radialsystem V

WHY: Another great summer festival lineup - this time nowhere near the dancefloor, unless avantgarde jazz is the kind of music that really gets you moving.  We will stick to the convential way of sitting on a chair while enjoying the unconventional sounds by Peter Brotzmann, Chris Corsano, Ikue Mori, Mats Gustavsson, Thurston Moore and many more.

Radialsystem V / Holzmarktstrasse 33, 10243 Berlin, S Berlin Ostbahnhof / 32€, reduced 25€ / more info

23.00 Krake Festival @ Suicide Circus

WHY: Not concentrating on a specific stlye of electronic music, this festival aims to present the best of everything. Which means - prepare your dancing shoes as well as a pair of earplugs for 3 different shows by masters of their craft: Fennesz, Dopplereffekt and Frank Brentschneider. Add to that visuals to complement the sounds and an extended list of DJs.

Suicide Circus / Revaler Strasse 99,  0245 Berlin, U/S Warschauer Strasse / 15€ / more info

23.45 Bok Bok, Urban Mutations & Janitor @ Chesters

WHY: DJ collective Urban Mutations and Festsaal im Exil present a night with Bok Bok, Dj MFK and Dj Wen. An interesting new addition to the exciting multi-stylistic bass music is Janitor - a pseudogenerative video system developed by artists Harm van den Dorpel and Jonas Lund.
